Cresco acted as lead counsel to Amplidata and its shareholders in the preparation, negotiation and closing of the strategic acquisition of Amplidata by HGST, a wholly owned subsidiary of Western Digital Corporation.
The acquisition of Amplidata — a Belgium and US based privately-held developer of object storage software for public and private cloud data centers — will significantly enhance Western Digital’s ability to expand into higher value data storage platforms and systems that deliver breakthrough value and scalability to address the massive growth in storage requirements in cloud data centers capabilities.
The shareholders of Amplidata included Big Bang Ventures, Endeavour Vision, Intel Capital Corporation, Swisscom AG and Quantum Corporation.
Amplidata’s growth cycle
Cresco strongly believes that its focus on supporting the activities of its clients throughout every stage of their life cycle significantly enhances their valuation in strategic transactions, both on the buy and sell side.
Our role as Amplidata's trusted advisor is a clear demonstration of the success of Cresco’s strategy to provide innovative legal services to meet the advisory, operational, litigation and transactional needs of its clients.
Cresco has acted as key counsel for Amplidata in all its business and legal needs for several years. After the closing of its five venture capital raising rounds in the aggregate amount of USD 50 million which we handled exclusively, we have advised Amplidata on corporate governance, executive compensation, intellectual property and technology matters.
Managing partner David Dessers, partner Pieter Capiau and associates Wim Van Berendoncks and Frédérique Joos, led the Cresco team that advised Amplidata and its shareholders in this strategic acquisition and provided ongoing legal support.
