Over the years, Arie has developed extensive experience in complex, high-stakes (cross-border) corporate litigation. He combines in-depth legal expertise with strategic insight and a strong courtroom reputation. In addition to general (corporate) litigation, Arie advised both debtors and creditors on all aspects of insolvency law. Furthermore, he is a recognised authority on ESG legislation, with particular emphasis on liability issues and shareholder activism.
His legal practice is distinguished by a deep understanding of business realities developed during his tenure as Head of the Legal Department of Belgium’s largest employers’ organisation (VBO-FEB).
Arie is a prolific author on corporate law, insolvency law, ESG legislation, and general legal theory. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of Belgium’s leading business law journal (Revue de droit commercial belge / Tijdschrift voor Belgisch Handelsrecht) and is a frequent speaker at national and international legal conferences. In addition, he is member of CEPANI and the Belgian Centre for Company Law.
