Are you a lawyer passionate about commercial contracting, innovation, technology and entrepreneurship?

We are currently looking for an outstanding Commercial/IP/IT Associate to join our Innovation team. We are looking for a hands-on lawyer with 3 – 8 years of relevant experience and expertise in commercial contracting - including agency, reseller, and distribution arrangements, as well as commercial trade practices - preferably complemented by experience in IP and IT law. You are eager to advise clients working on innovative and emerging technologies.

Your responsibilities

As an Associate in our Innovation team, you will:

  • Lead and manage the drafting and negotiation of a broad range of commercial contracts, including agency, distribution, and other intermediary arrangements, as well as licensing, (co-) development, partnership, e-commerce, service, and partnership agreements across diverse industries.
  • Advise clients on commercial practices and trade regulation, including agency and distribution law, unfair trade practices, and consumer protection matters.
  • Drive the structuring, drafting, and negotiation of IP monetization and commercialisation deals, leveraging your commercial and IP law expertise.
  • Contribute to the development of ecosystems geared towards co-creating and co-developing new technologies.
  • Assist in due diligence processes delving in the legal framework of innovative (ICT) companies.
  • Assist in managing our trademark practice: drafting trademark search reports, providing trademark advice, and supporting trademark procedures and litigation.
  • Independently manage projects and client relationships in a fast-paced, innovative environment

This function presents a thrilling opportunity for motivated individuals with a deep interest in commercial, IP and IT law and emerging, technology-driven enterprises, and who want to play a pivotal role in expanding Cresco's Innovation practice group.

Your profile

  • Master's degree in law from a Belgian university with strong academic credentials; an additional degree or specialisation in commercial, IP, or ICT law is an asset.
  • 3-8 years of experience, preferably within a law firm, with broad expertise in commercial contracting - such as agency, distribution, and other intermediary arrangements, and trade practices – preferably complemented by exposure to IP and IT law.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong interest in a career focused on commercial contracting (including agency, distribution, and intermediary arrangements), IP (including copyright and trademark matters), IT, and data transactions.
  • Subject matter expertise in data/privacy, ICT, and cybersecurity legislation is advantageous.
  • Ability to independently manage projects and client relationships in a fast-paced environment.
