Cresco supported D-CRBN in the successful closing of its Series A capital raise of €17.5 million, marking a key milestone in the company’s mission to accelerate the industrial decarbonization transition. The funding round was led by Dutch investment holding Astaia, together with the federal investment holding SFPIM and European Innovation Council (EIC) Fund, enabling D-CRBN to scale up its plasma-based CO₂ conversion technology and advance towards commercial deployment.
As a spin-off of the University of Antwerp, D-CRBN has developed a unique plasma reactor technology that transforms captured CO₂ into oxygen and carbon monoxide, providing the chemical industry with a green alternative to fossil-derived feedstocks. Its solution offers heavy-emitting industries a concrete pathway to reduce their carbon footprint while creating circular value from emissions that would otherwise be released into the atmosphere.
This capital injection allows D-CRBN to accelerate the industrialization of its technology, expand its team and strengthen its position as a leading European player in carbon utilization. The investment further confirms the growing momentum behind Belgian cleantech innovators and the appetite of patient, strategically aligned investors to back technologies that deliver tangible climate impact at scale.
We are pleased to have supported D-CRBN on this important step and would like to thank all parties involved for the constructive and efficient collaboration throughout the process. A special thank you to Gill Scheltjens and David Ziegler for their continued trust in Cresco.
