Cresco is proud to have advised lead investor Quantonation, the global venture capital fund focused on breakthrough technologies based on advances in physics and computing, in its investment in Vertical Compute, a Belgian deep-tech semiconductor start-up developing next-generation memory architectures for artificial intelligence.
Vertical Compute has raised €37 million in its most recent financing round, bringing the company’s total funding to €57 million. The round was led by Quantonation and supported by a strong international syndicate of investors, including Eurazeo, XAnge, imec.xpand, PMV’s Flanders Future Techfund, Wallonie Entreprendre, Sambrinvest, Noshaq, InvestBW, Drysdale Ventures and Kima Ventures.
Founded in Belgium, Vertical Compute is developing a novel vertical memory architecture designed to overcome the growing memory bottleneck in AI computing. By stacking memory structures directly above compute logic, the company aims to significantly reduce data movement, improving both performance and energy efficiency in AI workloads.
The newly raised capital will support the further development of Vertical Compute’s technology and the expansion of its engineering and industrial partnerships as it advances towards commercial deployment of its next-generation semiconductor platform.
The Cresco team, led by David Dessers, consisted of Emma Antonneau, Ward Verwaeren and Charles Groffils.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Will Zeng and Joseph Maillard for the excellent collaboration throughout this transaction. We also congratulate the founders, Sylvain Dubois and Sébastien Couet, on this significant milestone and wish them every success as Vertical Compute continues to develop and scale its groundbreaking technology.
