Ward Verwaeren is a senior associate of Cresco with a focus on IP & technology. He advises a wide range of domestic and international clients on intellectual property rights, commercial & technology matters, media law and privacy.

Given his experience in private practice and as an in-house legal counsel, Ward is focused on providing practical and business oriented legal advice based on a clear understanding of the challenging environment in which companies operate.

Ward has a particular interest in the Arts, media and innovative (digital) technologies.

Ward Verwaeren is an experienced business lawyer with private practice and in-house experience.

After founding an IT company during his university years, Ward became a staff member and business coach at the Centre for Entrepreneurship at the University College Ghent. Pursuing a full-time legal career, Ward subsequently joined the IP boutique law firm Van Innis & Delarue as an associate. After in-house experiences at Lightspeed (provider of POS software; secondment), VRT (Flemish public broadcaster) and Match Group (operating the largest global portfolio of online dating services), Ward joined Cresco’s innovation team as a senior associate.

Ward obtained a Master of Laws degree at the University of Ghent and completed additional courses at the University of Leuven’s IP & ICT Law program.

Ward is fluent in Dutch and English.
