Cresco is proud to have advised Capital Partners and Ferranti Computer Systems on the acquisition of Cogenius

Cresco is proud to have advised longstanding client Main Capital Partners and its Belgian platform company Ferranti Computer Systems on the successful strategic acquisition of the software company Cogenius.

This transaction marks Ferranti’s first strategic add-on since acquired by Main in May 2026, and is an important step towards building a leading international software group for energy and utility companies.

Main Capital Partners is a leading force in software investment with more than EUR 12 billion in assets under management, committed to continuous growth through strategic international expansion. Main Capital Partners made the acquisition through Ferranti Computer Systems, its portfolio company headquartered in Antwerp. Ferranti is an established, internationally active provider of mission-critical software for energy suppliers, grid operators and utility companies, and is Main’s second Belgian platform company.

Cogenius, founded in 2012 and based in Deerlijk, provides meter-to-cash software and IT solutions for energy market players, including suppliers, grid operators, producers and large industrial consumers. Its clients include under more Luminus, Infrabel and Vlaams Energiebedrijf. The two companies complement each other well – where Ferranti mainly serves the larger market players, Cogenius has a strong position with mid-sized players. Together they cover a broad part of the Belgian energy supplier market.

This add-on acquisition for Ferranti underlines Main Capital Partners’ buy-and-build growth strategy. It also lays a strong foundation for faster growth of the combined group, both in Belgium and internationally. 🚀

The Cresco deal team in this transaction consisted of Glenn L’hoëst and Hussein Dagher, and was further assisted by Ward Verwaeren, Emma Antonneau, Axel Desmet, Agim Curraj, Emilia Vandekerckhove and Marie Vandenberghe.

We sincerely thank all parties for the collaboration and congratulate them on this successful deal.

Sjoerd Aarts, Jorik Marcelis, Bernd Vanmuysen, Elisabeth Vandeurzen, Tom Van Haute, Klaas Devoghel, Thomas Decamps and the entire Main / Ferranti and Cogenius teams!
